Narrative
On approximately 19 November (1910Z, year inferred mid-1950s from filing context) at Cape May, New Jersey, USCG seaman John Neuman observed a large blue fireball with a bluish trail traveling a horizontal arc from NE to SW. The object disappeared into woods at visible range after 10-15 seconds. The observer reported an indescribable smell in the air unlike ozone or burning. The preparing officer concluded it was possibly a shooting star or comet, with no aircraft in the locality or inversion.
