On 5 October 1954 at 0507Z, six USAF officers in a training aircraft from Ellington AFB sighted multiple unidentified lights changing color from orange to bluish-green. The objects appeared and disappeared in different numbers and formations, sometimes in trail, sometimes with one in lead and others to rear/side. Visual contact lasted about five minutes; one radar observer reported unidentified returns possibly from the objects (possibly ground return). Lost when aircraft entered landing pattern. Carswell GOC indicated no military aircraft formations in the area. Identity could not be determined.
