Narrative

Children playing in a yard at 827 South Royer Street, Colorado Springs, observed a ball of fire at 02:00Z on 23 March 1955. The object descended rapidly, hit the ground, bounced back up into the air, disappeared by instantly burning itself out, visible for several seconds. Police and power company investigation revealed a length of burned conduit thrown across a high-voltage line, and a momentary local power drop at the same time. Resolved as children having caused the conduit to be thrown across the power line.
