Narrative
On 25 January 1956 from approximately 0207Z to 0240Z, a civilian observer in Beltsville, Maryland photographed an alleged UFO. The camera (Voitlander Zeiss Ikon with Heliar anastigmat lens, opening 6.3, infinity focus) was focused on the moon in an east-southeasterly direction at approximately 35 degrees elevation, with clear sky and no wind. The 101st Air Base Wing at Andrews Air Force Base submitted IR-81-56. Headquarters 4602d AISS evaluated the sighting and concluded it was a misinterpretation of a time exposure of the moon.
