Narrative
On 8 February 1955 at 1945 PST (08/0345Z), a civilian observer at home near San Diego, California observed a large blinking red light alternating with white. The round object was initially stationary then moved 3-4 miles rapidly in a straight course. It was still visible at 2000 PST and observation lasted 45 minutes plus. Weather was clear moonlit night, calm winds. Duty officer at Miramar NAS scanned the position and reported seeing only tower lights. The 751st AC&W Squadron at Mt. Laguna reported, with possibility of radio tower lights as cause. Object estimated 750 to 1000 feet above terrain.
