Narrative
On 1 August 1949 at approximately 1400 PST, Edward W. Gunbard, riding on a passenger ferry boat approaching the Golden Gate, sighted two oval objects in formation traveling faster than any jet aircraft. Objects were 10,000-25,000 ft altitude, ~8 miles laterally, ~55 degrees elevation, sighted for 25-40 seconds, approximately 40 ft diameter, traveling due north with no maneuvers, no exhaust, no effect on clouds, no visible lights, apparent solid construction. Additional witnesses Roy Oliver Neely (1850 Fillmore St, SF) and Reverend Curtis Daniels (Oakland) also signed statements; sketches obtained from Neely and Daniels. Investigated by OSI 19th District, Fairfield-Suisun AFB (Special Agent Jack S. Martin).
