Narrative
Beginning around 30 September 1955 at 0300Z near Storm Lake/Shelby, Iowa, multiple observers reported a rash of sightings of objects with alternating red, green, white, and blue colors. Investigation by Det 2, 4602d AISS, with telephonic checks to observatories, ascertained that all the sightings could probably be attributed to astronomical activity. Many stars, especially during the fall, have the appearance of changing colors. Detachment 2 was assigned to perform telephonic investigation focusing on observatories and observers.
