At 0333Z on 30 March 1955, a prisoner at Soledad Prison first saw the object and notified a prison guard, Sgt Brown, who also saw it. The object rose at a 45-degree angle with vertical movement and was still in sight at end of report. Ground-visual with binoculars. Two CAP F-51 fighters scrambled from Confederate searched the area down to 7000 ft but could not locate anything. 666th ACWRON reported a slow-moving blip on radar in the area at approximately 0345Z lasting only a few paints before fading. Possible cause unknown.
