ATSS-UFOB-188-55 / 0769E — 1955-05-09 — Drive-in movie on Highway 90 west of Long Beach, Mississippi
Narrative
At 0420Z on 9 May 1955, an A/3C observed approximately 9 or 10 dimly glowing white lights at approximately 45 degrees elevation to the south at a drive-in movie west of Long Beach, Mississippi. Lights moved at high speed in a slowly changing arc formation, straight and level, then faded from sight on the same course. Duration 15-20 seconds. Weather very high scattered. UFOB investigator at HQ Plans and Programs Wing offered no logical explanation. Notably, this was the second sighting reported by a person attending a drive-in at this base, and approximately 60% of local UFOB sightings occurred in this general area. HQ concluded possibly astronomical/cloud formations due to brevity.
