On the night of 26 March 1955 at 0350Z, a motorist traveling from West Acton toward Fitchburg, Massachusetts, sighted a greenish dime-sized bright spot of light at 10 o'clock position. The object moved in a straight line to 5 o'clock and disappeared suddenly after 3 to 4 seconds. Another civilian (Mrs. Jones) traveling west on Route 2 reported the same sighting. Ground-visual only. Sky overcast, no precipitation, westerly wind. Officer in Charge noted preponderance of aircraft and airports in the vicinity, suggesting aircraft searchlights or marker beacons.
