OCEO 27-1-E FLYOBRPT — 1953-07-02 — Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Narrative
Between 1800 and 1900 CST on 2 July 1953, multiple military and civilian observers at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma, reported a single round white object overhead at estimated altitude 30,000 to 50,000 feet. Object was viewed both with the naked eye and 7x50 binoculars and was observed from within a 2-mile radius of the base. A weather balloon transmitter was later recovered approximately 2.25 miles east of the base on 3 July; however, winds aloft were from the northwest while observers reported object motion inconsistent with the expected balloon track. Local radar obtained no return.
