Around 23 September 1955 a 42-year-old female civilian near Santa Cruz, California observed an object at 45 degrees elevation, moving from 45 degrees to 270 degrees azimuth at 45 degree angle, fading from sight over five minutes. Used glasses for observation. Weather was good with unlimited visibility. The Director of Intelligence 28th Air Div (Def) noted possibility of antiaircraft (AAA) fire from nearby Fort Ord, California as cause, with verification of report by military at E-A4. Concluded as artillery firings from Fort Ord.
