Narrative
On 22 June 1955 at 1720Z, two civilian observers in Springfield, Missouri reported a round silver object 15-25 feet in diameter trailing white smoke and emitting a steady bright light. The observer was walking when he looked up and saw the object. It traveled at 20-25 degrees east of true north, then turned 15-20 degrees to the west, descending behind a group of trees. Observed for 10-15 seconds at estimated 400-500 ft altitude. Deputy Sheriff George Spencer phoned the report. Walt Callen and S.B. Govin of the 770th ACWRON questioned the observers. Missouri State Patrol searched the area and found nothing. Concluded possibly aircraft.
