AISS-UFOB-242-55 / 635 ACW 270 — 1955-07-22 — Aberdeen, Washington
Narrative
On 22 July 1955 at 2323Z, observer Robert L. Peterson of the 4670th GOS, Seattle WA, while watching aircraft over Aberdeen, Washington, sighted a balloon-shaped white object the size of a medicine ball at 10,000 feet, floating south and bobbing away from aircraft. The object disappeared in one minute by eye. Weather was clear with excellent visibility. A white jet was seen overhead. The 635th ACWRON at McChord AFB filed the report; the 4602D AISS concluded probably balloon due to the description, duration, and heavy balloon activity in the area.
