Narrative

On 6 April 1956 at 0700Z, Mrs. Mack Baker at Samish Island, Washington reported a single round bright red object low on the horizon (15 degrees elevation) over Mt. Constitution on Orcas Island. The 25th Air Division concluded the sighting was the planet Venus, which was located at 15 degrees elevation in the NW at the time. Similar prior sightings (13 March and 15 March 1956) had been observed by a deputy sheriff but not previously reported.
