Narrative
On 29 January 1953, F-94B pilot 2Lt F.T. Goetting Jr. on a routine training flight spotted an oval, thin-shaped dark gray object approximately 10 degrees above and on same course (070 magnetic) as their aircraft, just after passing Houlton over the St John River. Radar observer also spotted it after multiple pointing. Object did not shine or give off light, no visible exhaust or contrail. Pilot chased at .8 MACH at 23,000 feet for approximately 8 minutes with no visible change in range. Chase took them 40 miles northeast of St John River. The object was also reportedly sighted by at least two other fighter aircraft from other squadrons. ADDC was not painting any 'unknowns' in the area.
