Narrative

On 27 December 1952 at 2209 MST, Central Airlines pilot William B. Brown observed an unusual aerial phenomenon shortly after takeoff from Borger, Texas. Object appeared at his altitude moving east to west between Borger and Amarillo, then accelerated in a slight climbing turn to the northwest, appearing like a bright light with exhaust/contrail. Six minutes later (2215 MST), CAA radio operators Carlton D. Chapman and John C. Tarlton at Kirtland AFB Albuquerque observed near-identical phenomenon. If same object, speed would be approximately 3,000 MPH. No aircraft known in area; no radar contact.
