At 0330Z on 16 June 1955, 1st Lt O'Connor Rexford of the 1737th Ferry Squadron, piloting L-20 R48971 at 5,000 ft MSL on a heading of 100-103 degrees at 100 knots, observed a round green light approximately 40 miles south of Topeka, Kansas. The object appeared 20 degrees above and 45 degrees to the left, descended 30 degrees on a straight course, and burned out suddenly after forty seconds.
