Narrative
On 15 September 1956 at 0727Z (night, moonlight), control tower operator A/1C Orin K. Self at Altus AFB observed a single round white star-like object at 30 deg elevation, azimuth 280 deg. The object followed a smooth arc rising to a parabolic flight path, falling off to below the horizon at azimuth 190-200 deg. Observation duration was 20-30 seconds. Source insisted the object was not a meteor or aircraft exhaust. The preparing officer suggested the obvious cause was a meteor.
