Narrative

At 0040Z on 13 November 1955, a civilian woman and her 15-year-old son, 12 miles NW of Van Nuys, California observed a bright orange half-globe-shape object the size of a dime. The object came down at 45 degrees in the west, descending straight down with a bright flash, observed for a few minutes. Weather was foggy. The 1/Lt Donald J. Barras (senior director, 669 ACWRON) checked with Erskine and OAF and confirmed no aircraft or missiles were in the area. Weather conditions may have accounted for brightness through fog; possibly a meteor.
