Narrative

On 23 May 1956 at 0035Z (dusk), a civilian (35 year old refrigerator maintenance man) watering his lawn in Amarillo, Texas observed a B-47 overhead. As the aircraft made a perfectly round turn, an object was sighted at 45 degree angle at 300 to 345 degrees azimuth. The pea-sized round object moved briefly then was stationary for 20 minutes, faded after one hour 30 minutes total. A B-25 pilot (Lt. Adams) in the area subsequently sighted a weather balloon at 15,000 feet with similar bearing. Concluded to be a balloon.
