Narrative

At 1705C on 11 January 1953, approximately 20 citizens of Gadsden, Alabama including the civilian airport manager observed an unidentified flying object NNW of Gadsden at 8,000-9,000 feet altitude. The object traveled SSE for 5-10 minutes from one horizon to the other; the airport manager viewed it through small binoculars while taking daily weather observations. Bright glowing multicolored mass with no discernible size or shape, no sound, no exhaust or vapor trail. Clear weather, moderate NNW winds; the object appeared to drift with the wind.
