Narrative

On 9 March 1956 at 0004Z, multiple observers in Graham and Burlington, North Carolina sighted a round baseball-sized reddish-orange object that flashed red and yellow then changed to red. Observers included Mr. George H. Newcomer (49), Mr. T.K. Burleson (32, guided missile designer), Mr. W.D. Fincher, Mr. J.W. Suon, and T/Sgt John K. Grant (36, USAF Recruiter). Object headed west when sighted SSE of post at 2040Z, due south of post by 0040Z. Observed via 16-power binoculars with object estimated at 1500-2200 miles distance and 500-800 miles elevation (likely OCR-garbled values). Object still in sight. AISOP linked it to a prior sighting under investigation at Graham.
