IR-9-53 — 1953-02-02 — Victorville, California (approx. 34-34N 117-57W), airborne
Narrative
On 2 February 1953 at 1100 PST, two gunners on a B-50 type aircraft observed a silver oval or disc-shaped object in the wake of a B-52 type aircraft during a mock attack training mission. One observer described it as a silver ball with possible flat surfaces; the other as a disc showing circular and flat sides. Object remained stationary for approximately 3 minutes at 360 degrees azimuth, 40,000-45,000 ft altitude, approximately 20 miles distant. Gunners attempted GSAP camera photographs; subsequent film assessment failed to show conclusive evidence.
