AISS-UFOB-199-55 / KACAINT 07128 — 1955-07-06 — North Truro, Massachusetts (762D AC&W Squadron)
Narrative
On 6 July 1955 at 0150Z (night), the 762D AC&W Squadron at North Truro, Massachusetts reported a round object with jagged outer edges cycling colors red, orange, yellow, and blue. At 0210Z the object's size and brightness increased. A small plane passed west of the object at 0215Z. The object moved up and down in approximately 30 degree arc at 7th of southwest azimuth, resembling a plane at first. Lt McLarkey from 437th FIS Otis AFB was scrambled at 0251Z. He made repeated passes; GOC reported he appeared to go right through the object, but he had no joy at any time. Observed for 20 minutes via ground-visual binoculars. Conclusion: possibly observer saw moon through scattered overcast clouds with thunderstorm activity (jet stream over location) causing apparent shape changes. Possibly astronomical.
