Narrative

Project Aquatone (1954) developed the U-2 Dragon Lady high-altitude (60,000 ft) reconnaissance aircraft authorized by President Eisenhower for Soviet nuclear intelligence collection. A declassified CIA assessment cited by AARO concluded that more than half of UFO reports in the 1950s-1960s were caused by these flights, with airline pilots at lower altitudes seeing the U-2 illuminated by below-horizon sun.
