Narrative

Canada's Avro Aircraft Limited designed the supersonic VTOL Avrocar in the early 1950s, which the U.S. Army and USAF took over in 1958 as Project Silver Bug. The VZ-9AV had a circular 'flying saucer' shape; cancelled December 1961 (could not lift more than a few feet); declassified 1997. AARO cites it as a saucer-shaped program likely fueling UFO reports.
