During the sighting
1974 personal sighting (as Governor) in Cessna Citation en route to Bakersfield — bright white light paced aircraft, elongated, accelerated upward. Reagan + pilot Bill Paynter + 2 security guards. Reagan recounted to WSJ Norman Miller a week later; clammed up after Miller's skeptical reaction. Paynter independently corroborated. Speeches: Sep 1985 UN GA + Dec 1985 Fallston HS + Sep 21 1987 UN GA: 'alien threat' / 'alien force already among us' framing. Reagan's own handwritten marginalia preserved 'fantasy' against speechwriters' cuts.
After the sighting
Per Gorbachev's 2009 public confirmation: Reagan raised alien-cooperation hypothetical with Gorbachev privately at 1985 Geneva + 1986 Reykjavik summits (interpreter-only walks). Gorbachev politely changed subject. Died 2004.

Speeches and 1974 sighting are real and well-documented. Inference from speeches/sighting to 'Reagan knew classified UAP secrets' is NOT documented — no primary memo/declassified document/contemporaneous staffer testimony places UAP material in front of Reagan in official briefing context. Gorbachev confirmed only the alien-threat HYPOTHETICAL conversation. Rhetoric is consistent with sci-fi-loving president using unifying metaphor.
