Frank Edwards
Before the sighting
Major-network broadcaster, replacement for Edward R. Murrow on Mutual.
During the sighting
1954: dismissed from Mutual — Edwards attributed it to UFO coverage; editor Rory Stuart cited labor/union politics. Books 'Flying Saucers—Serious Business' (1966) and 'Flying Saucers—Here and Now!' (1967, posthumous) were genuine commercial bestsellers; influenced 1960s public UFO awareness + climate leading to Condon Committee.
After the sighting
Died Jun 23 1967 of heart attack (natural, despite later conspiracy retellings).
Research notes
Treat Edwards as a POPULARIZER, not a witness or investigator. Books are valuable as primary documents OF 1960s UFO CULTURE and as indices of which cases were in public circulation — but should never be terminal citations for case facts. When a case traces only to Edwards: mark as 'Edwards-sourced; primary documentation required.' Death 1967 was natural.
